Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council Warns Auto Buyers Tempted by U.S. Pricing
November 1, 2007
With the Canadian dollar enjoying parity in the US many consumers may be tempted to buy a vehicle from a US dealer. Below are some factors that consumers should consider before making a decision to purchse a vehicle from an American dealer.
- All vehicles imported into Canada must pass federal inspection
- Some manufacturers may not allow American dealers to sell their vehicles to Canadian consumers
- Manufacturer's warranty may be voided if the US vehicle is imported into Canada
About OMVIC

OMVIC's mandate is to maintain a safe and informed marketplace by ensuring registration of dealers and salespeople, maintaining a complaint line for consumers and conducting investigations. OMVIC is also reponsible for adminstering the Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund on behalf of a Board of Trustees.
